Company History |
| The company was originally called
Advanced Advertising that began in 1996 developing web
sites and selling directory advertisements for BC Tel.
in the Yellow Pages web site. Advanced Advertising built
up a client base of almost 450 customers mostly located
on Vancouver Island. Two offices were setup, one in Nanaimo
and the other in Victoria. Advanced Advertising was one
of the first web development companies ever created in
Nanaimo.
In the year 2000 the company was purchased by Jay Somerville
of Local Business Mall Advertising, a web site Directory
focused on promoting local business on a global basis.
The company changed its name to Webacom in 2003 to
reflect all the services the company evolved into. Webacom
means Web and Communications. The company continues
to grow rapidly and now has clients in both the USA
and Canada. |

Jay
Somerville, CEO |
| Jay has been in the electronics
industry since 1980 operating a security business and
computer store. With a passion for helping businesses
grow he started offering web sites with his computer store
customers in 1995. Now he focuses on strictly web site
development and graphic design with a specialty in search
engine optimization. Married to Kathy Somerville with
three children, Jason, Chelsie and Joshua. |

| Community Involvement: |
- Served Kamloops Crime Stoppers as President
for four years. Assisted in starting the first
scholastic program for students in Kamloops. His
company answered the Teen Crime Stoppers 24 hour hotline
for several years with training from the RCMP.
- Successfully lobbied the City of Kamloops
for a full time CEO for Crime Stoppers Kamloops. The
funding is still being provided today.
- Active Member of the Chamber of Commerce
- Active Member of Tourism Nanaimo.
- Active member of Oceanside Rotary.
- Active member of Harbour City Networking Group.

Jason moved to Nanaimo, BC in
May 2004 from Kamloops, BC. He had only planned to stay
in the area for 10 months but soon found he was in love
with the ocean and the west coasts beauty and lifestyle. Now managing production and working the search engines, achieving top rankings for small businesses as well as large corporations. |

career. Notably the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, the Canadian Football League’s Ottawa Rough Riders, the City of Gatineau and the re branding of the University of Ottawa’s newspaper the Gazette.
